Southwest Frequent Flier Points Get Devalued Come Q2 2014

Southwest Airlines Rapid Reward program continues to worsen.

After changing to a point system in the past few years for flights they are now deflating the value of the points you’ve earned. As you can see from the graphic below, it will now take 70 points per dollar instead of 60 in order to get a free ticket. This is an increase in cost of nearly 17%. Thinking of Southwest points as a foreign currency…they’re about to become devalued. Not cool Southwest, not cool…but completely expected.
